NEWS  LETTER  no  2

To all Bowlers.

Trust you have all had an enjoyable Christmas and New Year and now look forward to the second half of the bowling season.

Thanks to those who made comment and support for the information they received in the first news letter. It was pleasing to receive and it would appear that as bowlers you are happy to receive information passed onto you by your club secretary.

Congratulations are extended to the United Women’s team who won the fours title at the recent Hyundai National Bowls Championship’s held recently inWellington. Well done.

Other Nelson bowlers also performed to a high level and well done to those who qualified and then went on to make the quarter and semi finals.

Draws have been sent out to all clubs for the coming Interclub Events. The 2-4-2 Junior Mufti Pairs commence on Wednesday 20^th January 2010.

The second round draw for the mid week Men’s and Women’s fours has also been distributed and please note that Section 4 will commence on the 26^th January 2010 and other Sections on the 2^nd February 2010.

All draws and other information are contained on the Nelson Bowls web site and from the Board we extend our thanks to Fred Gates for keeping the web site up to date.

Clubs are reminded that entries for Interclub events starting in February are due soon so if at all possible they can be lodged before closing date would be appreciated.

Players are also reminded to lodge their entries into coming Centre events early and don’t leave until the last minute.

The Board have commenced putting together papers that will be distributed to Clubs after the next Board meeting in February for  discussion at the Fixtures meeting on 5^th April 2010 so if a club member has a suggestion please contact your club officials to discuss and put forward a recommendation.

To all bowlers, the Board would appreciate that you take the time and make some comments in relation to the attached questionnaire and return directly or through your club secretary.

QUESTIONAIRE  2009 – 10

As a Board we are all aware that now and again you need to go back to all members and gain as much information as possible to ensure the product that is being provided suits all participants.

The Bowls Nelson Board considers that all members have not been canvassed for a few years and now is the time to do this.

At this stage we put this paper out to you all as an opportunity for you to answer the questions we have posed and also for you to submit your own comments on what changes if any should be considered for circulation to Clubs and implementation if the support is forth coming.

2	Do you continue to support playing Interclub events on Saturday mornings	Yes    No

3	Do you support the principal of playing a home and away system	Yes    No
4	Would you support that the entries be divided into sections and they be played at one venue similar to the Junior Mid Week events	Yes    No
